50th Annual Amache Pilgrimage

May 16 - May 18

This year, the Full Amache Pilgrimage will take place in the Amache area from the evening of Friday May 16 to midday Sunday May 18, with additional events hosted by Amache Alliance, the University of Denver Amache Project, National Parks Conservation Association, Colorado Preservation Inc., and the Sand Creek Massacre Foundation. There will also be events earlier in the week in Denver at the Denver Art Museum and History Colorado Center. PLEASE NOTE: you will need your own transportation to attend these events.

Following longstanding tradition, the 2025 annual Amache Pilgrimage takes place on the Saturday before Memorial Day weekend, May 16-18, 2025. It will also be the 50th Anniversary of the first Amache Pilgrimage. It is a time to remember those of Japanese descent who spent more than three years imprisoned on the plains of southern Colorado during World War II.

Nikkeijin Kai of Colorado will provide the May 17th Denver bus details.  Check Amache.org for pilgrimage details.

There will be additional events for those with personal transportation on Friday, May 16 and Sunday, May 18.

The main memorial at the cemetery and pot luck lunch will take place on Saturday, May 17. As the program develops, details will be posted on the In-person Pilgrimage page.

On Friday May 16th, join volunteers from the Amache Preservation Society, Amache Alliance, NPCA, CPI, DU Amache Project and others at Amache and in Granada.
